OnePlus Nord 6: Everything we know so far

Spectacular Snapdragon power

We first saw Geekbench results for the OnePlus Nord 6 back in January, but it seems as though the phone has had some tweaks since then as more recent test results show a greater degree of performance.

It’s all but officially confirmed that the phone will be using the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, the same one that powers the brilliant Poco F7. The F7 was easily one of the standout mid-rangers of last year, largely down to its impressive everyday performance and ability to handle pretty much any game with ease. If the Nord 6 can replicate this feeling of power then it could end up being quite a competitive phone for 2026.

The model used for the Geekbench test is also listed as having 12GB RAM available, but it’s likely that there will be a more affordable version that utilises 8GB RAM, just like the OnePlus Nord 5 had.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is also found in the Chinese-exclusive OnePlus Turbo 6, which has us thinking that the Nord 6 could just be a reskinned version of that same phone, designed for a Western audience.

An outrageously large battery

No, that’s not a typo, although there is almost certainly going to be a big caveat to go along with it. The aforementioned OnePlus Turbo 6 has hit the scene with an unbelievable 9000mAh silicon-carbon battery, and depending on how much OnePlus wants to carry over to the Nord 6, there’s always a chance that this could be replicated with the upcoming mid-ranger.

The problem is that due to Western regulations, that huge capacity might not see the light of day in the UK and Europe.

The OnePlus India post mentioned earlier suggests it will make its way to India, with the image hinting that the battery is the big focus of the upcoming phone.

However, it isn’t hard to imagine OnePlus wanting to do all that it can to still have battery capacity be a defining feature on the Nord 6, so don’t be too surprised if we end up seeing a cell around the 7000mAh mark. There could also be 80W fast charging to go with it.

A questionable display change

One of the best features of the Nord 5 was its large 6.83-inch display that also packed an impressive 144Hz refresh rate which is still quite rare for phones in general (not just at the mid-range level). Brace yourself, however, as a ‘give and take’ upgrade could be in store on the Nord 6.

The better part of this equation is that the Nord 6 is likely to feature an even faster 165Hz refresh rate – just what you want for enjoying fast-paced games like Call of Duty Mobile.

The flipside of this is that the display could shrink slightly to 6.78-inches, although that might be more preferable to some who prefer having a slightly more compact device to carry around.

Next level durability

Here’s another facet that the Nord 6 could pinch from its Turbo cousin – an official IP68 and IP69K rating. These two certifications in tandem would mean that the Nord 6 has high-grade dust and water protection, to the point where it can even withstand water jets.

While this might not be as exciting as a 9000mAh battery, it is a huge win for consumer value as it raises the mid-range bar even further.

With that kind of rating in tow, you won’t have to worry about forking out for a flagship device in order to get top-shelf durability, and there’s the added peace of mind that comes with knowing that your phone is unlikely to fall foul of the elements.

Everything else to know

Just like with its predecessor, the Nord 6 could end up having three colourways available: black, mint and silver (although OnePlus’ naming conventions are sure to change their descriptions).

Anyone who relies on a lot of local storage may be disappointed as OnePlus could be ditching the 512GB variant entirely, instead focusing its efforts on two 256GB models with different amounts of RAM.

There’s currently conflicting information as to whether or not we’ll see a Nord CE 6 launched alongside the Nord 6. Tipster Yogesh Brar suggests that the CE 6 will potentially be saved for a later date, but India’s BIS certification platform notes that there is a separate phone listed as CPH2805 is on the way.

Much like how the Nord 6 appears to be borrowing quite a bit from the Chinese-exclusive OnePlus Turbo 6, the CE 6 could appropriate several of the same features from the more affordable Turbo 6V.

Otherwise, the Nord 6 appears to be carrying over the same set of cameras from its predecessor, so don’t anticipate any key camera upgrades unless there’s something in the realm of software.
