Following the introduction of unskippable ads, YouTube users are set for another change. From June 2026, using the service without adverts could cost up to $4 more.
The updating prices have already come into effect for new users. Existing customers have been informed of the upcoming changes via email. The new pricing for the various YouTube Premium packages is as follows:
- Individual: $15.99/month, up from $13.99
- Family: $26.99/month, up from $22.99
- Lite: $8.99/month, up from $7.99
The price hike for YouTube Premium is unlikely to please users, but it’s not particularly surprising either. The platform hasn’t raised its subscription costs since 2023 – compared to Netflix, which regularly increases its prices.
However, if you feel that the cost for ad-free viewing is too high, you can always cancel your subscription – or pause it for six months. You can do this in your YouTube account, under the Membership option.
