Details concerning the upcoming Honor Magic 9 have leaked online, and the world’s top compact flagship phones should consider themselves on alert.
We never saw the Honor Magic 8 here in the West, though the Honor Magic 8 Pro (pictured) and Magic 8 Lite impressed in their own ways. Enough to make us keenly interested in any follow-ups, at any rate.
Now, a fresh leak has offered us a glimpse at the Honor Magic 9, and it looks as if the Chinese manufacturer is trying something a little different this time around.
According to prolific tipster Digital Chat Station, the Honor Magic 9 will be shrinking down with a 6.36-inch display (after the Honor Magic 8’s 6.58-inch panel), but will still pack a formidable list of specs.

Packing in the numbers
The phone’s camera system, in particular, could be comprised of a 200Mp main camera with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor, a 50Mp ultra-wide, and a 64Mp periscope lens with a 1/2-inch sensor.
Elsewhere, the tipster claims (via machine translation) that “the battery capacity is probably the largest in its class”. A whopping 8000mAh is tipped, which is 60% larger than the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
If accurate, the Honor Magic 9 would be in line to give the Google Pixel 10 and the Samsung Galaxy S26 some serious competition. It might even trouble the Xiaomi 17, the Google Pixel 10 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro at the top end of the compact flagship market.
With rumours that the OnePlus 15T could exceed its big brother with its battery capacity and Qi2 compatibility, it seems the small (or should that be ‘reasonably sized’?) smartphone is having a bit of a revival in 2026.
