A few months ago, I wrote an article politely requesting that one of my favourite wearables of all-time would be revived, and it appears to have come true!
Sure, the Samsung Galaxy Watches and Google Pixel Watches, plus others, are very good, but having more choice is always welcome and helps foster innovation. Motorola’s Moto 360 devices were special smartwatches, flat tire and all, and no doubt the firm has the technical clout to take on the big guns.
Well, it seems that is going to happen thanks to leaked images of the so-called Moto 360 (2025) via Android Headlines. It would mark a decade since we last saw a Moto 360 launch (ignoring the 2019 model made by eBuyNow).
Android Headlines
Not a huge amount is known about the new Moto 360 smartwatch, but I’m still excited. Let’s not forget, the original Moto 360 was the first Android Wear (as Wear OS was known back then) device with a round screen.
The model name suggests it will arrive this year, and it’s believed that it’s being built by Motorola rather than licensed out – phew.
Motorola has been in the wearable game to a small extent since those Moto 360 models a decade ago, with a handful of devices in the US as well as the recently released Moto Watch Fit – though that wasn’t quite what I was hoping for with a square design and no Wear OS.
The leaked images show a stunning device made from stainless steel with a proper metal bracelet, too. There will reportedly be five different colours, giving far more choice than most rivals.
I’m hoping one includes a leather strap like the old days instead of the boring and basic rubber options that are pretty much standard these days.
Android Headlines
It appears to be similar to the Huawei Watch GT5 Pro but with a more circular design and akin to the OnePlus Watch 3 but more premium.
The recent Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series design doesn’t do it for me, and heck, even the Google Pixel Watch 4 might not cut it at this rate.
The unknown, and a critical one at that, is whether it runs Wear OS or not. It’s hard to tell from a watch face, but it seems likely, or, as Android Headlines suggests, a dual approach with Moto Watch OS handling simple tasks similar to how OnePlus does things.
I’ll be keeping an eye out for more details on the Moto 360 (2025), but for now, long live the Moto 360.
