Reports of OnePlus’s death may have been greatly exaggerated, given that it’s just teased the launch of a new tablet.
Over on the OnePlus India X account, where the company has traditionally had a major presence in the country, an image has been posted of a tablet being held up, trophy-style, against a faint (dying?) light source.
Perhaps I’m reading too much into this, given all the rumours of OnePlus’s imminent demise, despite the OnePlus India CEO, Robin Liu, stepping down a matter of days ago. They’re probably just copying Apple’s PR playbook, like every other Android manufacturer.
Accompanying the image are the words “Exceptional Power” and “Coming Soon”. This seems to be unambiguously telling us that a flagship OnePlus tablet, potentially powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, will be unveiled in the near future.
From this description alone, along with the timing, it seems likely that this will be the OnePlus Pad 3 Pro. Last year, the OnePlus Pad 2 Pro launched in May, before making its way over to the West in the form of the OnePlus Pad 3.
Oppo tablets tipped
OnePlus’s parent company Oppo, is expected to launch its own premium tablet range over the coming weeks. The Oppo Pad 5 Pro and the Pad Mini are set to be announced on 21 April, alongside the Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s smartphones.
The company has released some more details concerning these two tablets, as spotted by The Tech Outlook. The Oppo Pad 5 Pro will pack a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a 13.2-inch 3.4K 144Hz display, a 13,380mAh battery, and 67W SuperVOOC fast charging.

It’ll be 5.94mm thick and will weigh 672g, with supposedly “HiFi-level” speakers and support for a dedicated keyboard case.
The Oppo Pad Mini will run on an older Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, with an 8.8-inch 2.5K 144Hz OLED display and an 8000mAh battery.
Whether either of these tablets will make their way West remains to be seen, but we can hope.
