The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide has had its specifications spilt all over the internet – along with confirmation of its release date.
Tipster Ahmed Qwaider has issued a fairly comprehensive rundown of the specifications for the device we feel duty-bound to call the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Wide, despite all signs pointing to a confusing name change.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, as it’s almost certain to be called, will measure 123.9 × 81.9 × 9.7mm when closed and 123.9 × 161.4 × 4.5mm when open. It’ll weigh 201g, which is a full 14g less than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Its main display will be 7.6-inch QHD+ panel, apparently, with an iPad-like 4:3 aspect ratio. The cover display will use a 5.5-inch QHD+ panel in a passport-style 16:10 aspect ratio.
There’ll be a double 50Mp camera system – wide and ultra-wide – on the back, with f/1.8 and f/1.9 apertures respectively, and the usual pair of innie and outy 10Mp f/2.2 selfie cameras.
Performance should be of the highest order, thanks to a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and 12GB RAM. Storage options will cover the usual 256GB/512GB/1TB bases.
In true Samsung fashion, the 4800mAh battery is looking a little pokey, and there’ll be 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0 together with 12W Fast Wireless Charging 2.0.

Launch date confirmed (again)
Many of these specs have been leaked already, but it’s nice to have them all assembled in such a comprehensive manner as we enter launch month.
Talking of which, we’ve received two more confirmations that Samsung is lining up a 22 July Unpacked event in London for its new foldable series.
Respected financial publication (and one with obvious close proximity to Samsung) Seoul Economic Daily is carrying the date in a fresh report. That would be notable enough on its own, but Samsung itself has also seemingly let the date slip.
Samsung Malaysia has revealed a discount deal offering a good chunk of change (RM700 works out to about £130) off their next foldable phone. What’s telling here is that the code is only valid through the Samsung Members app starting on… 22 July.
This is the third and fourth time the date has been leaked, so it seems as good as locked in at this point. Official confirmation from Samsung is likely just around the corner now the event is being teased.
Following recent design and case reveals, there’s really very little left to learn about Samsung’s new foldable range. We know that the direct follow-up is likely to be dubbed the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (go figure that one out), and that there’s also going to be a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8.
Roll on 22 July.
