Premium Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets are about to get a lot more affordable through official channels, thanks to the further rollout of the company’s Certified Re-Newed program.
Having previously launched its Certified Re-Newed initiative in the US and South Korea, Samsung has brought the ability to buy officially refurbished Galaxy devices to the UK and Germany.
France has also gained something similar in the shape of a Refurbished Premium by Samsung (or Reconditionné Premium par Samsung to locals).
We’re big fans of buying refurbished over regular old used, so any new refurb option is most welcome. This one seems to go the extra mile.
Samsung Certified Re-Newed process
The process starts even before you get to the clean-up phase, with only top-grade returned products eligible for the CRN treatment in the first place.
Once approved, Samsung’s in-house refurbishment program promises “rigorous cleaning and more than 100 quality tests” on traded-in devices, as well as the use of genuine Samsung parts (as you might expect).
All devices will be reset to a factory state – though of course you should always wipe your phones before returning – and the latest software version will be installed. Following the refurbishment process, the devices will be popped in a new box made from recyclable materials, together with all of the materials you’d expect of a brand new Samsung phone.

Warranty and availability
Further emphasising the extent of the refurbishment process Samsung is using here, the company will offer the same warranty as new Galaxy devices – though obviously this will vary by country. Here in the UK it tends to apply a 24 month warranty.
Interestingly, Samsung will also issue Certified Re-Newed devices sold in the UK, France and Germany with new IMEI numbers. It really is like a fresh start for these second hand devices.
Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed program is now active in the UK, starting with the Samsung Galaxy S25 range.
As a little bonus for UK customers, they will be able to enrol in the Samsung Care+ program from 19 January. This provides benefits like an extended warranty, coverage for limited instances of accidental damage, and battery replacements.
