OnePlus could be working on a new tablet with a marginal bump up in power and a slightly smaller form factor than expected.
Tech tipster Yogesh Brar has taken to X to post some interesting claims about a tablet currently in testing at OnePlus HQ.
Apparently, the Oppo-owned company is bringing Qualcomm’s OnePlus is bringing Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 to a 12-inch tablet with a 12,000mAh (at least) battery.
Add in the fact that this tablet is tipped for a June launch, and it sounds a lot like a follow-up to the OnePlus Pad 3. If this isn’t the basic spec for the OnePlus Pad 4, we’ll be surprised.
If true, it would represent a slight scaling back from the OnePlus Pad 3 in certain respects, given that the company’s current flagship tablet uses a 13.2-inch display. However, the battery capacity sounds about the same, while the performance may take only a small step forward – if that.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 isn’t a clean generational level-up of the Snapdragon 8 Elite used in the OnePlus Pad 3 (that would be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5). It’s actually inferior in a couple of respects.

The OnePlus Pad 3 is one of our favourite Android tablets on the market, so any news of a follow-up is likely to grab our interest.
Our reviewer praised the OnePlus Pad 3 for its big and beautiful display, its brilliant performance, superb battery life, and premium design. It’s also pretty handy when it comes to multitasking and productivity, thanks to OnePlus’s thoughtful UI embellishments.
It’ll be interesting to see if the OnePlus Pad 4 receives a price hike. There have been numerous reports that the company is being forced to boost the prices of its smartphone range – upcoming OnePlus 16 included – owing to the steep increase in memory component prices.
We’d be surprised if the company’s tablet range is immune to these price pressures, though these initial specs suggest that OnePlus might be working to minimise the increase with some judicious component choices.
