In an ideal world, you’d be able to remove the At A Glance widget from your Pixel. It’s one of our biggest bugbears with the Pixel home screen. In fact, there’s evidence that Google will give you the option to do just that, and we expect the feature to be available in the Android 16 QPR3 update in March.
But many people like the feature – and they’ll be glad to hear that there’s another change coming that’ll make the At A Glance widget a little more user-friendly.
Currently, the text in At A Glance can easily blend in with the background image on your home screen, but Android Authority reports that Google is now testing a new setting that will make the widget easier to read.

The new setting will give At a Glance a “high-contrast background” that separates the widget from your wallpaper. With the setting enabled, the widget will appear on a semi-transparent background instead of directly on your wallpaper. The new background will work with both black and white text, and will also be visible on the lock screen.
It’s unclear when Google will roll out the new setting to Pixel phones. Currently, it’s only available in the QPR3 beta version of Android 16.
