In summary
- Samsung Galaxy S26 and S26+ directly compared to predecessors
- Smaller S26 a much bigger upgrade
- Late reinstatement could be to blame for Plus model similarities
Details have emerged of how the Samsung Galaxy S26 and S26+ will compare to their flagship smartphone predecessors, and the smaller model in particular could be quite an upgrade.
Prolific Samsung leaker Ice Universe has compiled a chart detailing how the Samsung Galaxy S26 and its larger variant, the Galaxy S26+, will stack up to the Samsung Galaxy S25 and the Samsung Galaxy S25+.
It’s the smaller model that appears to be the bigger upgrade of the two.
How the Samsung Galaxy S26 compares
First up, the Galaxy S26 is set to have a slightly larger 6.3-inch AMOLED display compared to the Galaxy S25’s 6.2-inch unit. It’s a small increase, but it brings the series in line with the iPhone 17 and the Google Pixel 10.
Elsewhere, the new phone will pack a more powerful processor, whether that’s the model with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip or the similarly capable Exynos 2600.

The Galaxy S26 will also have a 4300mAh battery, which is a 7.5% increase on the Galaxy S25’s 4000mAh cell.
Those are the three major upgrades that we picked up on, but there are a couple of other things to note. The Galaxy S26 will be slightly slimmer, for one thing, at 6.9mm rather than 7.3mm thick. Samsung also appears to be dropping the base 128GB model in favour of 256GB, which we’re all in favour of.
Otherwise, the camera setup appears to be identical, as does the old provision of25W wired charging support.
What about the Samsung Galaxy S26+?
Interestingly, the Samsung Galaxy S26+ appears to be much more in keeping with the Galaxy S25+ before it.
It’ll have the same display, camera, battery, and very similar proportions, judging from these unofficial spec claims.
That’s perhaps understandable when you consider the rumours that the Samsung Galaxy S26+ was a hastily reinstated model. Originally, we were expecting to see a Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge in place of the Plus, but poor sales of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge may have forced a change of mind.
