Launch details concerning the Vivo X300 Ultra and X300s smartphones have leaked. The camera-focused phone is shaping up to be very exciting, but it’s not all good news.
Tipster Anvin has revealed the core configurations for the Vivo X300 Ultra and X300s ahead of their expected launch over the coming weeks. These new devices will apparently launch on 30 March in Chine and have a release date of 3 April, alongside the Vivo Pad 6 Pro tablet.
The Vivo X300 Ultra will ship in four variants split between 12- and 16GB of RAM, and with 256-, 512GB, or 1TB of storage. It’ll also be available in four colours: Green, Purple, White, and Black.
It will have to compete with the Oppo Find X9 Ultra, which is also getting a global launch.
The Vivo X300s will ship in five variants covering 8-, 12-, and 16GB of RAM, with the same three storage options. The colour options are a little more limited, though: Blue, Purple, and Grey.
All of which sounds good – the lack of precise spec details notwithstanding – but a separate piece of Vivo news has us worried.
Following hot on the heels of Oppo and OnePlus announcing that they were raising the price of existing phones, Vivo and iQoo have done the same.
The two Chinese smartphone brands have issued a joint statement revealing that they would adjust the suggested retail price of certain Vivo and iQoo products from 10am Chinese time on 18 March.
Unsurprisingly, this sudden move is due to the massive increase in global semiconductor and memory costs. We’ve been expecting this for some time and it’s now hitting.
There’s no specific information on affected models, but we’d be very surprised if the aforementioned Vivo X300 Ultra and X300s don’t receive an effective price bump from launch.
