The OnePlus 16 has been tipped to supply a huge reason to upgrade – quite literally.
According to an X post issued by tipster OnePlus Club, the forthcoming OnePlus 16 will come packing a next-generation “Glacier Battery” with a capacity “approaching” 9,000mAh.
We were more than a little impressed by the OnePlus 15’s 7,300mAh battery, which was 22% larger than that of the OnePlus 13 – itself one of the biggest cells of its generation at 6,000mAh.
If this latest report is true, however – and noting that it uses the term “approaching” – then the OnePlus 16 battery could be set for a further 20%(ish) capacity bump. That could mean three- or even four-day battery life.
Given that the OnePlus 15 launched in October of 2025, we’re likely to have a considerable wait until the OnePlus 16 arrives.
OnePlus 16 Pros and cons
Around a fortnight ago, the same source claimed that OnePlus was planning to return with a Pro (or maybe Ultra) option with the OnePlus 16.
It seems this OnePlus 16 Pro will be an “all-rounder” – a somewhat unusual way to describe what is likely to be the most premium flagship phone OnePlus has made in some time.
Presumably the implication here is that the OnePlus 16 Pro will be more competitive with high-end rivals on the camera front, after the OnePlus 15 rolled back some of the good work done with the OnePlus 13.
That would certainly tie in with another recent claim from Yogesh Brar that OnePlus’s next flagship phone will ship with an upgraded 200Mp main camera, along with a 50Mp ultra-wide and a 50Mp 3.5x telephoto.
It seems fan feedback on OnePlus’s fresh approach with the OnePlus 15 hasn’t been quite as glowing as much of the press response.
Our reviewer liked the OnePlus 15 a lot, praising its “best-in-class performance”, “great user experience”, and of course that “outlandish battery life”.
