You might think Asus only makes laptops and monitors these days, but the firm has announced a pair of new Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel-rivalling devices in the Asus Pad tablet and the VivoWatch 6 Plus smartwatch.
Earlier in the year, we reported on the news that Asus was no longer in the smartphone game, which made us a little sad.
While far from being a Samsung-scale player in the industry, Asus was the only brand making genuinely compact smartphones (like the Zenfone 10), as well as a gaming phone that you wouldn’t be embarrassed to get out in public – the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro.
Thankfully, Asus is still active elsewhere in the smart device market, as evidenced by the new Asus Pad and VivoWatch 6 Plus unveiled at Computex 2026, held in the company’s homeland of Taiwan.
Asus Pad
First up is the Asus Pad, which is the firm’s first new tablet in around a decade.
This new Android tablet features a 12.2-inch 2.8K OLED display with a dual-layer architecture. The latter produces higher brightness levels and superior colour consistency, as well as improved power efficiency and extended panel life.
Add in a set of Dolby Atmos-supporting quad speakers, and we should be looking at quite the media playback champ.
While it’s certainly a big tablet, the Asus Pad’s 6.5mm-thick body and 523g weight should keep it relatively manageable. It promises to maintain its rigidity through the use of a magnesium-alloy chassis and a fibreglass back cover.
It’s powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor, which isn’t a top-end operator, together with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM. There’s also a 9000mAh battery and 45W charging.
None of that is what you’d call a spec to scare the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, but Asus is obviously going for a more cost-effective yet still premium tablet offering here.
There’s support for the Asus Pen 2.0 stylus and a Bluetooth keyboard, while there’s a protective case in every box.
Asus VivoWatch 6 Plus
Asus also announced the VivoWatch 6 Plus smartwatch, but this announcement is frustratingly light on detail. The company seems more interested in talking about “AI-Driven Healthcare” than the new watch that fits into this vision.
From the scant resources we’ve been given, we can establish that the Asus VivoWatch 6 Plus has a 1.43-inch AMOLED display covered with sapphire-crystal glass, a titanium alloy case and an ECG-monitoring function.

Asus
Health tracking is definitely the name of the game here, and it supports new metrics like sleep breathing movement, gait analysis, and insights into chronic disease risk and long-term health trends.
When it arrives, it will have to take on the likes of the Google Pixel Watch 5 (due in August) and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 series (due in July).
Key details are unknown
As for availability and pricing for these two devices, your guess is probably as good as ours, sadly. A global launch seems unlikely, given the climate of the tech industry, so Asus may start closer to home to begin with to test the water.
We’ll update you as and when we learn more.
