Oppo has just announced its Reno 16 series of phones, and all three models are coming to the UK.
The Oppo Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro, and Reno 16 F will be hitting the UK on 3 July, and while they’re not quite the mid-range offerings we encountered last year with the Oppo Reno 13.
Opt for the Pop White colour of any of these phones, and you’ll witness the snazzy use of HoloVerse 3D Technology. This visual effect depicts a planet that seems to cast a convincing shadow on the back of the phone.
All three phones supply IP68, IP69 and IP69K dust and water resistance ratings.

Oppo Reno 16 range: Display and battery
The Oppo Reno 16 Pro and the Reno 16 are both notably smaller than before, offering a more compact 6.32-inch AMOLED display, with the Pro model extending to a 144Hz maximum refresh rate in select games.
The Oppo Reno 16 F gives you a slightly larger 6.57-inch screen.
Both the Reno 16 Pro and Reno 16 also feature support for 80W wired charging (but no wireless charging), while the Reno 16 F gives you 45W.
Here in the UK, the Oppo Reno 16 Pro has a 6000mAh battery, which is slightly smaller than the 6700mAh capacity of the Chinese model. The Oppo Reno 16 gets a larger 6700mAh battery, while the Oppo Reno 16 F tops out at 7000mAh.

Oppo Reno 16 range: Camera and performance
All three models supply triple camera systems. In the case of the Oppo Reno 16 Pro, that entails a 200Mp main sensor, a 50Mp 3.5x telephoto, and a 50Mp ultra-wide, together with a 50Mp selfie cam.
The Oppo Reno 16, meanwhile, goes all in on 50Mp.
As for performance, the Oppo Reno 16 Pro runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 8550 processor, while the plain Reno 16 gives you a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.
The Reno 16 F is definitely the mystery customer here. We haven’t been given anything like as complete a picture of its specifications as the other two models, which is slightly odd.
The bad news: Pricing
Then we come to the pricing, which is where things get interesting.
After initial discounts that run through to the end of July, the Oppo Reno 16 Pro with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage will cost £899, which is £250 more expensive than the Oppo Reno 13 Pro last year.
The Oppo Reno 16 with 8GB/512GB will cost £699, and the Oppo Reno 16 F with 8GB/256GB will set you back £649.
Smartphone prices are going up across the board, of course, but still, this is not quite the mid-range series we once knew.
