Samsung is reportedly working on the Galaxy Z Fold TriFold 2, as well as a brand new Galaxy Z Slide concept.
The news follows reports from Korea suggesting that Samsung had effectively ‘discontinued’ the Galaxy Z TriFold.
We didn’t report it at the time because it didn’t seem quite as sensational as some were making it out to be – ‘limited run debut product sells out’ hardly seems like headline news.
For the record, the report states that while domestic sales are said to be ending after just three months, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold TriFold will continue to be sold in the US.

A second-generation and something else
Now, a new report from Samsung’s home country indicates that the company is so pleased with the original TriFold concept, it’s moving onto phase two.
Over on one Korean blog, it’s being claimed that the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold 2 is in the works, with a likely launch in mid-2027.
According to the source, the second-gen TriFold (or whatever it’s called) will slim down significantly, to the point where it will be only a little thicker than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. That would make it closer to 9mm than the original TriFold’s 13mm thickness when closed, which would certainly be an advance.
The report also claims that Samsung is working on a brand new Galaxy Z Slide concept device. As the name suggests, this would feature a slide-out screen mechanism rather than a foldable one.
Samsung Display (a different arm of the company) showed off a similar-sounding concept at MWC 2026 called ‘Mobile Slidable’.
It’s a device that starts as a compact 5.1-inch phone and can be pulled or extended by a mechanical system to 6.7-inch. You can see it in action via this Android Authority video.
We can apparently expect to see this new product type sliding onto the market in some form in late 2027 or early 2028.
