After three years, one of Netflix’s most ambitious series finally returns. The first trailer for Beef season 2 is out, teasing another wild story of a row that gets out of hand.
The anthology show, created in collaboration with A24, debuted in 2023. The first season told the story of Danny Cho (Steven Yeun), a struggling contractor, and Amy Lau (Ali Wong), a small business owner, whose argument began over a road rage incident. The seemingly minor event escalated into a bizarre vendetta that cast a shadow over both characters’ lives.
Strong acting, a stunning story and buzzing emotions won the hearts of viewers and critics alike. The first season grabbed five Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, and three Golden Globes – for Best Limited or Anthology Series or Television Film, Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film, and Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film.
Three years after its premiere, Beef season 1 has a 97% positive rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. So, the creators now face the difficult task of delivering an equally good second season, with an all-new cast, characters and plot. Here’s everything we know about it.
When will The Beef season 2 be released?

What is the plot of The Beef season 2?
According to showrunner Lee Sung Jin, the new season explores the nature of relationships and how they change over time. It also covers generational differences, but between people who aren’t very far apart in age – the creator of Beef decided to focus on Millennials and Gen Z.
In season 2, Ashley and Austin, lower-level country club staff, witness an alarming fight between Josh, the club’s manager, and his wife, Lindsay. Realising they shouldn’t have overheard it, they flee, but the incident sets in motion a chain of events that ultimately leads to violence.
The situation is complicated by the fact that both couples seek the favour of the wealthy club chairwoman, Park. She, however, has her own problems with her husband Kim, a surgeon.
According to the showrunner:
Austin and Ashley think all they need is each other and the beach. So when we meet them, they are thrust into intersecting with our millennial couple. It’ll be interesting to see with these two how they react to life’s first real struggles.
