Leaked OnePlus 16 specs suggest that the brand is very much alive and kicking. Reports of OnePlus’s death are greatly exaggerated, it seems.
While rumours that the Oppo-owned brand is closing up shop refuse to go away – and in this industry, there’s no smoke without fire – we continue to get indications of exciting new products in the pipeline.
Take the follow-up to the OnePlus 15, for example. According to prolific tipster Digital Chat Station, the next flagship phone from OnePlus is very much on track.
Not only that, but it’ll be a bit of a beast. The OnePlus 16 will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip, and will be fronted by a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO display.

Next-level display
The latter component sounds a lot like the OnePlus 15 equivalent, except for one additional specification. As we’ve heard rumoured previously, its maximum refresh rate will be bumped up as high as 240Hz and, at the very least, will be able to hit the heady heights of 185Hz.
To put that into context, the current standard remains 120Hz, so the OnePlus 15 was going above and beyond when it managed 165Hz.
If we’re talking 185Hz and above, we’ve only really seen such figures from niche handsets such as the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro – a luxury gaming phone that proved to be an evolutionary dead end for the brand.
Besides being extremely fluid (in gaming applications at least), the OnePlus 16 display could support the wider BT.2020 colour gamut – the kind of standard we’re more accustomed to seeing in high-end TVs.
The tipster also claims that the OnePlus 16 will feature a super-skinny bezel (around the 1mm mark). We saw something similar recently in the Honor 600 Pro, and can confirm that it’s a good look.
Previous rumours have stated that the OnePlus 16 will pack a pair of 200Mp cameras, as well as a monstrous 9000mAh battery. If OnePlus is indeed going down, it’s evidently going down swinging.
