Brace yourselves – Wicked fever is back, as the second part of the stage musical adaptation starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande has finally hit big screens across the UK and US.
While the film is likely to be a big box office hit, reviews aren’t quite as favourable as the first movie, which dropped last year. If you’ve had your mind changed (for good) about watching it now, or just have no immediate plans to see the Wicked sequel in theatres, we’ve got you covered.
Here at Tech Advisor, we’re always predicting when big blockbusters may arrive at home – and we have some ideas thanks to the first Wicked film and other Universal hits.
The film is out now in cinemas. Those in the UK can bag tickets from Cineworld, Vue and Odeon, while American readers can bag them from AMC Theatres and Fandango.
When could Wicked: For Good be released on VOD/digital?
Before Wicked: For Good hits any kind of streaming platform such as Netflix, it will first be released on digital for renting and buying.
The bad news is that Universal hasn’t confirmed when this will happen. However, the first Wicked film dropped on the last day of the year, 31 December 2024, in the US, and on 3 January 2025 in the UK. For reference, that film originally hit cinemas on 22 November 2024 – basically a year before Wicked: For Good.
So, if Universal follows the exact same time for releasing this film, you may be able to watch Wicked: For Good at home from 30 December 2025. Again, if the same pattern happens, the UK’s VOD date may be more likely from 2 January 2026.
In fact, you can already pre-order it from Amazon and Apple TV in the UK and Amazon and Apple TV in America.
This is quite a fast turnaround compared to other studios, but Universal films this year such as Jurassic World Rebirth have followed the same pattern, so it seems like a safe bet – unless the studio really wants to capitalise on those ticket sales.
When could Wicked: For Good be released on streaming platforms?
Sadly, the streaming service release for Wicked: For Good is likely to take longer than the paid one.
The first place it will be released is NBC’s official streaming platform, Peacock. Wicked took four months to be released on here, dropping on 21 March 2025. So, if Wicked: For Good also takes that amount of time, you won’t be able to stream it via a subscription until around the second half of March 2026 by our estimation.
Universal films typically hit Sky Cinema and Now’s Cinema Memberships in the UK, and surprisingly Wicked took a whopping eight months to drop on here, arriving on 11 July 2025. So that means that sadly UK viewers could be waiting until July 2026 to stream Wicked: For Good.
That’s not to say that these dates are set in stone, but it is worth noting that Jurassic World Rebirth was released on 30 October 2025, which is just under four months after it’s theatrical release… and it’s yet to arrive on Sky Cinema and Now. So, these predictions have some evidence to them.
When could Wicked: For Good be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
The physical release of the first Wicked film slotted in between the VOD and streaming releases. US Elphaba fans got it on 4 February 2025, while those in the UK got it on 10 March 2025.
These releases are often the most sporadic, but spring 2026 seems like a reasonable prediction for the DVD/Blu-ray drop of Wicked: For Good.
